Bojjam Narasimhulu Pharmacy College

Introduction

The Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) is a flagship initiative launched by the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell (MIC), Government of India, with the objective of promoting a culture of innovation in all higher educational institutions. The IIC is designed to encourage, inspire, and nurture young students to work with new ideas and transform them into prototypes while they are still in college. It acts as a structured framework that guides institutions in planning and executing innovation and entrepreneurship-related activities, thus developing an innovation-driven ecosystem on campus.

Purpose

The primary purpose of the IIC is to instill a spirit of innovation and entrepreneurial thinking among students and faculty. It aims to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and real-world problem solving by encouraging idea generation, research, product development, and startup creation. The council provides a platform where ideas can be discussed, refined, and transformed into impactful solutions that address societal and industrial challenges.

Functions

The IIC undertakes a variety of activities to promote innovation within the institution. These include organizing ideation workshops, hackathons, start-up boot camps, innovation competitions, expert talks, field visits, and prototype exhibitions. It also facilitates interaction with successful entrepreneurs, industry leaders, and innovation experts. The council helps establish linkages with incubation centers, funding agencies, and other government-supported innovation schemes such as Start-up India, Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), and NIDHI-Prayas. Additionally, the IIC monitors and evaluates the progress of innovation-related initiatives and projects undertaken by students and staff.

Goals

The main goal of the Institute Innovation Council is to embed innovation deeply within the institutional framework and to nurture students as future entrepreneurs and problem-solvers. It aims to build a network of innovators who can contribute to national and global development by creating impactful startups and technological solutions. The council seeks to align the institution with the National Innovation and Start-up Policy (NISP), promoting interdisciplinary research, intellectual property creation, and startup incubation. Ultimately, IIC envisions transforming higher education institutions into innovation hubs that contribute meaningfully to the knowledge economy
